TGS'15 - Big Information Update on Final Fantasy XV

Posted on the 20th September 2015

After a somewhat dissapointing showing at Gamescom earlier this year, Tabata-san has giving us a lovely big update on Final Fantasy XV at this years Tokyo Game Show with information about characters, fishing, chocobos and moggles.

It is somewhat of an information over load so please do carry on reading the full details here along with a couple of videos, one about chocobo riding and fishing while the other about location hunting for Final Fantasy XV.

TGS'15 - Final Fantasy XIV Patch 3.1 Detailed

During Tokyo Game Show, Yoshi-P decided to hold his latest Letter from the Producer Live where he revealed new details on the upcoming 3.1 patch titled As Goes Light, So Goes Darkness which you would understand if you have completed the Heavensward 3.0 story.

As Goes Light, So Goes Darkness

Since this is somewhat a large post please read on this page for details about the new Void Ark 24-man raid, Exploratory Missions, Lord of Verminion and release schedule!

TGS'15 - Final Fantasy Type-0 Online Announced

Posted on the 20th September 2015

With the news that both Final Fantasy Agito for smartphone and the recently announced Final Fantasy Agito+ for PlayStation Vita is no more for a new "reborn" title, Square Enix used Tokyo Game Show to reveal Final Fantasy Type-O Online for PC and smartphone.

Type-0 Online is once again set in the world of Orience. According to Square Enix, it is “set in a parallel world” to the original Final Fantasy Type-0. It will feature action RPG gameplay similar to the original Type-0 as well as online multiplayer.

It is being developed by Perfect World, a Chinese developer known for their work in online games (such as Perfect World [the game]). Final Fantasy Type-0 Online will launch in 2016 in Japan, and availability in North America and Europe is "currently under consideration."

TGS'15 - Final Fantasy XIV VR Tech Demo

Posted on the 15th September 2015

Although not what I originally hoped for, there is a tech demo for Final Fantasy XIV running on the PlayStation VR (previously known as Project Morpheus in case you are wondering) at this years Tokyo Game Show.

Final Fantasy XIV VR Slide

Speaking to Eurogamer, Square Enix said "this is a demo that's been created for TGS, we don't have any plans for an official release." Which is a shame but hopefully they may decide to release it as one of those demos that will (hopefully) come with the PlayStation VR whenever that finally ships.

TGS'15 - New Final Fantasy Adventure Game

Posted on the 15th September 2015

Unfortunately not much to go on at the moment but it has been confirmed that Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden (Final Fantasy Adventure) is being developed for the PlayStation Vita via SCEJA’s Tokyo Game Show 2015 website.

We should expect to see more once Tokyo Game Show gets into full swing starting the 17th September and will update once the information is available.

TGS'15 - New World of Final Fantasy Trailer

Posted on the 15th September 2015

Square Enix have a released a new trailer for their upcoming chibi game World of Final Fantasy for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

Unfortunately there is no update on the release date but is still slated for 2016 and has already been confirmed for a western release.

New "DAWN" trailer for Final Fantasy XV

Posted on the 5th August 2015

Square Enix at gamescom 2015 has published a brand new trailer for upcoming Final Fantasy XV. Unfortunately it is all just cutscenes and no gameplay as the trailer focuses on 15 years prior to the actual game.

Here is what is going on accoring to the description;
"The unbreakable bond that young Noctis has with his father King Regis is about to be tested - in the face of difficult decisions surrounding the growing war between his kingdom and the invading Empire."

Final Fantasy XII "Remake" Happening?

Posted on the 2nd August 2015

During the Distant Worlds concert in Pittsburgh, composer Arnie Roth announced to the crowd that there is a Final Fantasy XII "remake" coming later this year. Do take that with a pinch of salt though, if true, it will likely only be a remaster like that of the Final Fantasy X|X-2 collection which is not entirely a bad thing anyway.

Other details such as platform(s), release date, etc was obviously not announced but if what he says holds true then expect details at this years Tokyo Game Show or during one of Square Enix Presents streams like the recent Dragon Quest XI announcement.

Thanks to Final Fantasy Network for the video

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Steam Release Set

Posted on the 28th July 2015

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD for PC (well Steam) has now got a final release date of the 18th August 2015.

Square Enix said the Steam version of the fantasy role-playing game has an improved in-game battle camera, full Steam achievements and trading cards, scalable motion blur settings and a customisable dynamic screen shot mode. There's also controller support and upgraded graphics resolution levels.

There's also a curious crossover with Valve's MOBA, Dota 2. If you pre-purchase Final Fantasy Type-0 HD on Steam you get the Master Chocobo as your courier and Moogle (Class Zero) as your ward in Dota 2, as well as a Final Fantasy Type-0 HD loading screen.

E3'15 - Final Fantasy VII Remake Announced

Posted on the 20th June 2015

Part of my E3 2015 Recap.

One of Square Enix's biggest announcements (along with the new RPG, Project Setsuna), was the reveal that Final Fantasy VII will indeed be getting a remake with PlayStation 4 players getting it first.

Currently still in early developments so I would not expect to see this game anytime soon (2016/17 but most likely 2017) but Square Enix have confirmed they will reveal more information this winter.

E3'15 - Kingdom Hearts III Gameplay Trailer

Posted on the 20th June 2015

Part of my E3 2015 Recap.

I know you may be thinking why am I covering Kingdom Hearts, firstly because it has Final Fantasy characters included but also because I loved the first two main games!

As the title says, this is the first proper gameplay trailer since they moved production from the Luminous Engine to the Unreal 4 Engine and boy does it look good.
