MARK HUNTING
Your goal in this somewhat big side-quest is to defeat 45 Mark monsters.
Marks are the monsters that you are asked to hunt by Petitioners. By Looking at the individual Hunt Bill on the Noticboard, you can determine the Mark's vital statistics, including its name and rank. There are eight different ranks of Marks I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, with I being the easiest and VIII being the hardest.
Generally Marks are much more powerful then your general foe you will face on the field for the area it is in.

| Dispel its Protect and possible Haste, try targeting it with Slow, and then hit it with the strongest Fire Magick available to you. You could also summon Belias, as he will be healed by the creatures fiery attacks. | ||||

| Gil Snapper* | Nanau (Giza Plains (The Rains); Crystal Glade) | Vanguard | ||

| 37 | 86,956 | 3,000 Gil, Phobos Glaze | Giza Plains (The Rains); Tracks of the Beast | After you receive the Dawn Shard |
| Battle Tactics: | ||||
| The rain needs to be at its hardest in the location for it to appear so just keep on going in and out the screen until it appears. Once fighting use Dispel to get rid of its Shell, Haste and Protect status. It uses Blizzara a lot as well as Disablega so try and cast Silence and also equip Ice Shields. Blind it to reduce its physical attacks and just fry it with Lightning-imbued weapons and Thundaga. | ||||
| - |
| Rank III Mark: | Petitioner: | Required Clan Rank: | ||
| Feral Retriever | Hymms (Mt Bur-Omisace; Sand-strewn Pass) | Vanguard | ||
| Level: | HP: | Bounty: | Location Found: | Availablitily: |
| 28 | 22,562 | 1,500 Gil, Recurve Crossbow, Teleport Stone x2 | Paramina Rift; Spine of the Icewyrm | After you visit Mt Bur-Omisace |
| Battle Tactics: | ||||
| Do not use any Magicks throughout the battle as it will cast Balance when its HP hits 20% so stick with physical attacks and heal yourself using items. Like all Coeurls, it causes status ailments so protect yourself with the likes of Sash to guard against Slow, and the Nishijin Belt for immunity against Sleep. Keep your party spread out for its Balance Magick as it is very powerful and normally kills instantly. | ||||
| - |
| Rank III Mark: | Petitioner: | Required Clan Rank: | ||
| Vorpal Bunny | Nera (Eruyt Village; Spiritwood) | Vanguard | ||
| Level: | HP: | Bounty: | Location Found: | Availablitily: |
| 31 | 20,010 | 2,000 Gil, Lightning Arrows, Gillie Boots | Golmore Jungle; The Rustling Chapel | After you defeat Judge Bergan |
| Battle Tactics: | ||||
| As this creature is constantly running you need to keep a lock on it so press and hold L2. Start by using Dispel on it and to try and stop it from running from you cast Berserk and then Blind so its attacks are less frrequent in hits. | ||||
| - |
| Rank III Mark: | Petitioner: | Required Clan Rank: | ||
| Atomos | Burrogh (Nalbina Town; Jajim Bazaar) | Vanguard | ||
| Level: | HP: | Bounty: | Location Found: | Availablitily: |
| 33 | 40,020 | 1,800 Gil, Gaia Rod, Diamond Shield | Mosphoran Highwaste; Northern Skirts | After you defeat Judge Bergan |
| Battle Tactics: | ||||
| Immediately cast Dispel to deprive Atomos of its beneficial status effects. It is weak against the Holy element and absorbs the Dark element. You can use Disable and it is pretty easy to take down with strongish characters. | ||||
