Final Fantasy XII Skies - Mark Hunting (Rank VI)

MARK HUNTING

Your goal in this somewhat big side-quest is to defeat 45 Mark monsters.

Marks are the monsters that you are asked to hunt by Petitioners. By Looking at the individual Hunt Bill on the Noticboard, you can determine the Mark's vital statistics, including its name and rank. There are eight different ranks of Marks I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, with I being the easiest and VIII being the hardest.

Generally Marks are much more powerful then your general foe you will face on the field for the area it is in.

Battle Tactics:
This Mark will lower one character's MP by 70% with its Feat attack and casts strong Fire Magick. Use your usual status effects and regularly cast Slow and Blind on the Mark.

Battle Tactics:
Start by using Dispel to remove its Bravery then cast Blind and Slow to hamper its physical attacks. Bio and non-elemental Magicks such as Flare and Scourge work well especially if you bounce them off with your Reflectga. Once it reaches 50% HP it will unleash it Pyromania attack so be prepared by equipping Fire-retardant items such as Flame Shields and Adamant Hats.

Battle Tactics:
Boliath will start by using Magick Barrier which makes it immune to Magicks for two minutes. Try to cast Slow, the plug away with physical attacks with Dark-imbued weapons.

Battle Tactics:
This Mark will lower one character's MP by 70% with its Fear attack and casts strong Fire magick so fortify your team with your usual status effects and regularly cast Slow and Blind on the Mark. Just keep on attacking it and when it hits 20% HP it will speed up and concentrate on physical attacks so keep on top with the Slow and Blind Magicks on it.

Battle Tactics:
Use Aeroga to take out its minions first; cast Decoy on your tank and keep them away from the rest of the team. Cast Dispel, Slow and Blind on the Mark. The best bet is just to attack it with physical attacksand a Quickening Chain when the mark's HP reaches 20%.

Battle Tactics:
The War-chief will fight alongside you during this Hunt. The moment the battle starts, use Dispel (and repeat when necessary), the cast Blind. Wield Ninja Swords if possible as this foe is Dark-weak.

Battle Tactics:
If the location (above) has no enemies in it then the Mark will likely appear there but it can take awhile to materilaise. Prepare by equipping Rose Corsages and Nishijin Belts to prevent Silence and Sleep, or Rubber Suits to nullify the effects of the Lightning-based Magick that it uses. Once in battle, use Dispel the hit it with Expose aprroximately ten times to greatly lower its Defence. When Ixion reaches 50% HP, it will cast Fearga which drains 95% of your party's MP so when that happens just equip Bubble Belts to finish off the job (Holy-imbued weapons work well here).

Battle Tactics:
You will need to activate four Pedestals of Night with Black Orbs which you will make your way down levels. Each time you go down a level you have to fight the boss called Phoenix. On your journey you may come across a Magick Pot, do not fight this as it can cause you a lot of trouble, instead give it an Elixir or pass it by without attacking it but if you do attack it just run to another area to escape. Once you finally reach the lowest level, Hell's Challenge, you will face the Mark. Now this Mark will summon Pandemonium, Slyt, Fenrir and Phoenix so you've got one hell of a battle on your hands here. Use Silence on Pandemonium and hit it with (ideally Wind-imbued) weapons; cast Oil then Firaga or Ardour on Slyt; put Fenrir to Sleep and hit it with non-elemental Magicks; Blind Phoenix and attack it with neutral ranged weapons. Espers are no use here as they get killed pretty much the same time you summon them with the Breakfast Pentagram attack. Instead equip everyone with Bubble Belts. Keep your team spread out and keep on top of healing and use Holy or Holy-imbued weapons against the Seer once all the other foes are down.
